This year’s NAIDOC theme is – Change: the next step is ours.
C.Y. O’Connor Institute in Moora celebrated NAIDOC, (National Aboriginal Islander Day of Celebration) by teaching Aboriginal heritage to students at St Josephs’ Primary School.
Students from Kindergarten right through to year seven took part in activities such as Noongar language, dreamtime stories, native dance and painting.
Over a period of a week students participated in these activities every afternoon, and on Thursday 7 July performed in front of the other students at the school assembly incorporating the elements of Aboriginal life they had learnt.
