The central lawn at C.Y. O’Connor Institute in Northam was host to the Campuses’ 2011 NAIDOC celebration on the morning of 2 September, 2011.
Staff enjoyed fresh scones and cream before attending the formal proceedings, followed by a performance by the Wadumbah Aboriginal Dance Group.
Maxine Gossland, C.Y. O’Connor Institute’s Aboriginal Development Officer, welcomed everyone to the event and invited Michael Bowman, Director, People and Performance, to give a short speech on behalf of the Managing Director, John Scott.
“The theme for NAIDOC this year is Change: the next step is ours,” said Michael. “The Institute is pleased to be involved in such an important event to help celebrate the history, culture, achievements and contribution that the Aboriginal culture has made to Australian society.”
