Muresk

 

Introduction

C.Y. O’Connor Institute’s will be utilising the training facilities at historic Muresk; The complex is situated 90 kilometres east of Perth, 11kms from Northam in scenic Spencers Brook and includes a 1,738 hectares research and teaching farm. Muresk is a fully equipped agricultural training facility, combining comfortable residential accommodation with modern teaching and learning facilities.   There are three halls of residence and they are divided into four units; each unit has bathroom and toilet facilities and a common room with lounge facilities, television, video and fridge. Some twin-share rooms are available. Rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe, bookcase, ceiling fan and heaters. Each student's room has connection facilities to the computer network with access to email and the Internet. Students are free to bring personal computers.  The halls of residence are located close to teaching, laboratory, dining, library, computing and recreational facilities. Students are welcome to bring their horses with them to Muresk.

Full board and accommodation is available for students:

The Dempster Homestead is where students receive their meals; students can either sit and have their meals or take away their meal and eat it in their room. Full board consists of three meals a day Monday to Friday. Food @ Muresk promotes low fat and high quality meals.

Certificate IV Agribusiness:

This qualification allows individuals to develop agribusiness skills and knowledge within the agriculture and production industry. They may undertake a range of complex and non-routine tasks related to the administration of an agribusiness. A range of technical skills and knowledge  proficient to leadership of others would be expected. This agribusiness qualification will develop a range of skills critical for managing an agribusiness, such as financial, business and risk management skills. Additional skills involving computing, presentations, training and OHS are all packaged together to produce graduates seeking a career in agribusiness particularly in management and leadership roles.

Horse at Muresk:

Students may agist their horses at the Muresk study centre provided an application is made before the horse arrives. This needs to be faxed to the Muresk Housing department at least 1 week prior to the animal’s arrival. Agistment is on a weekly basis and agistment fees must be paid in advance ($20 per week)
