Governing Council

C.Y. O'Connor Institute is a Statutory Authority with a Governing Council responsible to the Minister for Training and Workforce Development. The Governing Council has the authority, conferred by the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996, to perform the following functions:

  • Prepare an Institute Training Profile for the approval of the Minister and when required by the Minister
  • Develop and implement strategic and management plans for the Institute
  • Ensure that Institute courses, programs and services are responsive to, and meet the needs of students, industry and community
  • Ensure that the Institute's commitments under its Resource Agreement and any other contractual agreements are met.

The Governing Council, under the act, delegates the strategic operation and management of the Institute to the Managing Director.
